Roland E. Flagg

Mr. Roland Flagg of Castalia, Grand Manan Island passed away on Tuesday May 26, 2015 at The Grand Manan Nursing Home with his family by his side.   He was born at Grand Manan the son of the late Ainsley and Elva (Parker) Flagg. Roland was a very hard worker with his wife in their family Dulse business where they proudly shipped Roland‘s Sea Vegetables around the world. He is survived by his children Bonnie Green (Perley),Cindy Parker (Dale), and Sandy Flagg (Mary–Nell) all of Castalia, Eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, and was pre deceased by his wife Flora (Leighton) in 2013, daughter Joy, and grandson Alex Parker. Roland was the last surviving member of a family of twelve. He is also predeceased by seven sisters Kathleen, Lillian, Iva, Beatrice, Belva, Mary and Leola.  Also four brothers Frederick, Rexford, LeRoy and Glendon.  

Visiting hours will take place at Ells Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-7 PM for the family and 7-9 PM for friends and neighbors. The funeral service will take place from The Community Life Church on Saturday May 30, 2015, at 1:00PM with Rev. Jeff Benson officiating and Rev. Ruth Fair-Parker assisting. Interment will follow at The Maple Grove Cemetery. Roland’s family have requested donations be made to The Grand Manan Nursing Home Fund, Grand Manan Hospital Fund, Charlotte County Cancer or the donor’s choice.  Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home Inc., 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 1G2.
