Dennis Bowen

Dennis G. Bowen, 62 of Kirkwood, PA, formerly of Cheyney, PA passed away , Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his home following a yearlong battle with cancer.  He was the husband of Orma Birkhofer Bowen. They had celebrated 37 years of marriage.  Dennis had earned a B.S. degree from West Chester University in philosophy, modern religion, history and education. He taught history at the Woodlyne School, Strafford, PA for 16 years. Following retirement, he founded and managed a marine science and environmental camp in Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, Canada.  He was an avid bird watcher.

Dennis was born in Coaldale, PA, and son of the late John and Irene Cupak Bowen.
In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by 2 daughters, Yoko and Abigail Bowen, both of Maine; 4 brothers, Robert Bowen, Hudson, FL, John Bowen, Bethlehem, PA, Daniel Bowen, Kempton, PA, and George Bowen, Walnut Port, PA.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Kirkwood, PA.
