Janet E. Collins

 

 

It is with great sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing on April 1, 2014 of  Janet E. Collins 72 of North Head, Grand Manan Island. Born in Saint John NB, Janet was the daughter of Neil S. and Emma (Goss) MacKellar Sr.

Janet had worked as a Medical Secretary for over twenty five years. She was a member of the Church of the Ascension, Anglican Church Grand Manan.  Always active in many church functions, she prepared church bulletins, was a member of the Ladies Guild, and served on the church vestry for many years.  Believing in giving to her community she served as secretary for Action Ministries, and worked at the food bank for many years.

She is survived by her children Kim (Wayne) Long, Kathy (Eldon) Smith, and Frank (Bonnie) Langmaid all of Grand Bay-Westfield.  Six grandchildren, Jason (Shayna), Christopher (Terra) Long, Jeremy (Letitia) and Jordan (Kendra) Smith, Steven (Ashleigh) and Katie (Matt) Langmaid.  Six great-grandchildren Brianna, Riley, Clara, Logan, Cameron, Bradley and several cousins.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Allan Arthurs, her children George Neil Langmaid and Ann-Louise Collins.  One brother Neil S Mackellar Jr.

Visiting will be held from Ells Funeral Home Saturday and Sunday 2-4 pm, and 7-9 pm.  The funeral service will be held on Monday April 7, 2014 at 12:00 pm from the Church of the Ascension with the Rev. Dana Dean officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodsmans Point Anglican Cemetery later in the spring.  Memorial donations can be made to Action Ministries and Church of the Ascension.  Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home Inc., 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB,  E5G 1G2.
