Joanne I. Griffin

Mrs. Joanne I. Griffin of Castalia, Grand Manan Island passed away at her residence on Wednesday March 12, 2014.  Born at Hanover Ontario she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anne (Schnurr) Guptill. Joanne was known for her quick wit and sense of humor, enjoying a game of bingo, the excitement of a few scratch tickets, and collecting unicorn ornaments were some of her favorite past times.  Christmas was her favorite holiday, and also at other times of the year spending time trout fishing or being in the woods hunting was a past time that let her spend time enjoying nature and the outdoors. Entertaining friends with her harmonica, or listening to her favorite music by Bob Segar and Janice Joplin were always fun times.  She loved her children, her husband Burrell, family, and friends very dearly, and she will be missed by all who knew and love her.  She is survived by her husband Burrell, daughter Jolene (Doug) Sadler of Castalia, her son David (Margaret) Green of North Head.  Her mother-in-law Dorothy Griffin of North Head. One sister Marianne (Robert) Smith, and one brother James (Carla) Guptill of Seal Cove. Her sister-in-law Ellen Green of North Head and brother-in-law Gatchel Griffin of Beaver Harbour.  Six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Anne.

Visiting will take place from Ells Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place from the Castalia Baptist Church on Saturday March 15, 2014 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Ron Ford officiating.  Joanne’s family has requested that donations may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.  Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home Inc., 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 1G2.
