Brian D. E.  Dalzell

The death of Brian Duane Eugene Dalzell occurred unexpectedly on Monday, November 14, 2011 at his cottage in Grand Manan, NB. Born in Middleton, NS on March 2, 1957, he was the son of Carolyn (Langille) Dalzell and the late Halton R. Dalzell. An avid, life-long outdoorsman and Naturalist, Brian was well known and respected with the Birding community. Brian parlayed his passion for Nature into a successful business, completing numerous environmental impact studies on Wind Powered Generation projects throughout the Maritimes. Brian obtained his Journalism Degree from Holland College in 1987, which he put to good use as a free-lance writer for several Regional newspapers. His eloquent and entertaining style garnered him many fans who became devotees to his weekly Nature themed column. Best known for his immense compassion, Brian was selfless in his giving, able to not only find the perfect gift, but to mend hearts in the process.  Brian is survived by his Mother Carolyn, as well as his Brother Gregory, his wife Margo, their children Cameron and Connor, and his youngest Brother Halton A., his wife Stacie, their son Matthew, also his sister-in-law Zita Dalzell.  He was predeceased by his father Halton R. and Brother Robert. 

A Memorial Service will take place at St Paul’s Anglican Church on Friday November 18, 2011 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dana Dean officiating.  A reception will follow at St. Paul’s Church Hall and all are invited and welcome to attend.  Brian’s family has requested that donations may be made to NB Federation of Naturalists or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
