Theresa Bois
1930-2011
Theresa Bois passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 12, 2011 at Shannex, Embassy Hall in Quispamsis, New Brunswick. Born in Drummond, New Brunswick on February 28th, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Emelie (Desjardin) and Albert Bois. Theresa was the predeceased by three brothers, O’Neil, Romeo and Beniot, and one sister, Irene Devost. She is survived by one daughter, Patsy (Dana) Russell of Rothesay, NB, one granddaughter Mariah and several nieces and nephews. Theresa worked for many years in Grand Falls, NB but in 1967 she left her comfortable surroundings, family and friends and bravely moved to Grand Manan Island to work for Helen and Lowell Small, owners/operators of the Shorecrest Lodge at that present time. She not only found employment for many years with the Small’s but she also became a dear friend and daughter figure to the Small’s since they had no children of their own. Theresa later became a long standing employee of Atlantic Mariculture under Claude Daggett and Bev Fleet until she reached retirement age. The Grand Manan people will always remember Theresa as being a kind hearted, humble woman with a strong French accent who loved animals dearly. For many years she booked eye examinations for the islanders to see Optometrist, Dr. Wayne Lenehan who made bi-annual visits to Grand Manan from Fredericton. Although Theresa was not born on Grand Manan, the island truly became her "home" and she remained living there in her little yellow house on the "long bank" until a crippling fall in 2006. Due to poor health Theresa was never able to return to her home after her fall. She became a residence of Meadow Valley Manor (Quispamsis) where she thrived for 3 ½ years. As her health continued to fail Theresa became a resident at Embassy Hall, Shannex in Quispamsis when it opened in the spring of 2010.
Sincere thanks and gratitude to all the staff and doctors who cared for my mother/mother-in-law/grandmother, Theresa during her stay at Meadow Valley Manor and Embassy Hall, Shannex. You gave her the love and caring attention she needed every hour of every day.
Visiting will take place at Ells Funeral Home on Thursday from 7-9 pm. In respect of Theresa’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Theresa will be laid to rest at the Maple Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Funeral arrangements are in the care of ELLS FUNERAL HOME INC. 1199 Route #776, Grand Manan, N.B.
