VALORE WINNIFRED ELLIS
ELLIS, VALORE WINNIFRED; 97; of Woodwards Cove, Grand Manan Island,
N.B. passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital on Tuesday morning
December 8, 2009 with her family by her side. Born in Woodwards Cove
she was the daughter of the late Burdell and Vernia Lambert of
Woodwards Cove, N.B. Valore was a very capable person and managed her
late husbands herring fishing business for fourteen years, then she
went on to work for Ross H. Russell General Store for three years as a
clerk until she accepted a position as a cook for the Grand Manan High
School for fifteen years and during that time she also filled in part
time for the Grand Manan Nursing Home as a cook when needed. She was
also a very loyal supporter of the Grand Manan Farmers Market where
she was a vendor for over twenty five years. Also she was a member of
the Southern Cross Lodge # 16, Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 44
Ladies Auxiliary, and the Grand Manan Curling Club. She was a
faithful member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, a member of the
St. Paul’s A.C.W., and Sunday School teacher. Survived by two
daughters; Sandra Taylor of North Head, Elizabeth Ingalls of Grand
Harbour, two sons; Perry Ellis (Donna) of Woodwards Cove, Robert Ellis
(Paulette) of Miramichi. Twelve grand children, twenty great grand
children, one great great grand child, many nieces, nephews, and
friends. Predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob), one daughter Anna
Hillman, one brother Mearle Lambert, and two grand children Darlene,
and Turner.
Visiting will take place from Ells Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4
and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Paul’s
Anglican Church on Friday December 11, 2009 at 1:30 pm with Rev.
Captain Dana Dean officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple
Grove Cemetery. Valore’s family has requested that donations be
made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, or the Charlotte County
Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are in the care of ELLS FUNERAL
