Mrs. Betty (Heydenreich) King (1920-2021) 

Mrs. Betty (Heydenreich) King, of North Head, Grand Manan NB, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Grand Manan Nursing home, Grand Manan, NB. She was100.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of Claude and Jean (Gray) Heydenreich, she emigrated with her family to Montreal at age three. She worked as a bookkeeper and stenographer prior to her marriage in 1946 to Russell Mannion. In Montreal she was an active member of St. Ignatius Anglican Church. Betty and Russell later retired to Eldon, Prince Edward Island where they lived for many years.

In 2011 Betty moved to Grand Manan where she enjoyed her friends at church, Tidal Threads needlework group and the Senior Citizens group. The family would like to thank all the people who adopted her as their mother and friend. Special thanks to Kindred Home Care and the staff at the Grand Manan Nursing Home.

Betty is survived by daughters, Claudia Mannion, Parrsboro, NS, and Pamela (Ronald) Cronk, North Head, Grand Manan, NB, grandsons Ian Cronk (Susie Rideout) of Saint John, NB, and Patrick Cronk (Ashley Harris) North Head, Grand Manan, NB; two great grandchildren, Ryker and Kollyns. Betty was predeceased by husband Russell Mannion in 1989, and Alex King 2014; grandson Benjamin Cronk 2019, and brother George Heydenreich.

There will be a celebration of Betty’s life at a later date, when family can gather. Interment will take place in the Cherry Valley Cemetery, PE at that date. For those who wish, a donation in Betty’s memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
