Sabra Geraldine (Gerry) Ingalls Sabra Geraldine (Gerry) Ingalls Sabra Geraldine (Gerry) Ingalls

Mrs. Sabra Geraldine (Dakin) Ingalls, 79, of Grand Manan, NB, passed away peacefully at the Grand Manan Hospital on the evening of Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

Geraldine (Gerry) grew up in the village of Seal Cove. She married the love of her life, Allison Ingalls, on November 28, 1959 and they settled down to begin their life and family on Ingalls Head. She loved to keep busy, and when she wasn’t in the thick of managing and raising a busy household, she put her love for numbers and organization to work in many different jobs that she loved. These included Bookkeeper at the United Maritime Fisherman Association, Village Clerk for the Village of Grand Harbour /Village of Grand Manan for 36 years. Her brave entrepreneurial spirit led her to partner with her daughter in building and managing Seaside Haven Cottages for 10 years.

Gerry was a faithful servant for her Lord and Saviour serving through her Church community for many years as bookkeeper, and often leading or taking part in various ministries, including Sunday School classes, Bible Studies and singing groups.  She was known for her deep compassion and love for others - even during times when she herself, was suffering. If Gerry knew you, she prayed for you. She loved people and her community so very much and was known among all who knew her as a loving prayer warrior.

One of her favorite ways to enjoy life, outside of gatherings with her children and grandchildren, was spending time with her love, Allison, at Beulah Campground. They hosted family and friends throughout the campground season.  Much laughter and joyful memories are etched into the walls at 14 Jordan Ave.

Allison and Gerry sold their home and moved to Castalia, enjoying the beautiful view and being closer to her family. Time passes on, and with the passing of her husband in 2015, she drew on her inner resilience, and sold their beloved home, and moved to Rotary Isles Estates in North Head.  She enjoyed her time spent with friends and family at her apartment.  Her view was spectacular.  Afternoon naps on the couch were always preceded with time to watch the clouds and the seagulls. She enjoyed this so much, and eventually could update her sister on the upcoming weather, based on the clouds and dance of the birds in the sky.

Geraldine is survived her daughters; Kendra Neves (Arthur) of Castalia, Trina Ingalls of Yarmouth, NS, Cathy Ingalls of North Head; one son Rodney Ingalls (Helen) of Castalia; eleven grandchildren, Tracey, Heidi, Kate, Stephanie, Nicole, Jeremy, Kristyn, Danielle, Shelrae, Katelyn, Alison; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters Eulah Brown (Keith) of Sussex, NB, Dianne Thomas (Kenneth) of Castalia; one brother, Truman Dakin (Margaret) of Seal Cove, one sister-in-law, Arlene Small (Stanley) of Browns Flat, NB. Geraldine also has many nieces, nephews and friends she made along her journey.

Gerry was the center of her family and loved by all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed.

Geraldine is predeceased by her parents, Cleveland (1995) and Ethelyn (Benson) Dakin (1996); her husband, Allison Hartford Ingalls (2015); and three grandchildren, Raeanne, Joshua, Riley.
