Irene Esther Ingersoll

1923-2018

Irene Esther Ingersoll

It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Esther (French) Ingersoll, formerly of Seal Cove, Grand Manan, NB announces her passing on February 4,2018 at the age of 94 at the Grand Manan Nursing Home with her loving family by her side. With her strong faith in God, she has passed to meet her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  She was born December 30, 1923, the daughter of the late Clayton and Geneva (Harvey) French in Seal Cove, Grand Manan.  She and her late husband, C. Frederick Ingersoll, (Aug, 1990), worked very hard to raise their three children at their home in Seal Cove. Irene worked for many years in the fish industry boning, stringing herring and also at Connors Bros. as a packer until her retirement.  She was a very happy person and loved to laugh and get together with friends and family and try to uplift everyone.  She had a very strong inner strength from the Lord that held her through several major health adversities in her life.  Her passion was to cook and bake for her family and have friends in for lunches and fellowship. She loved to knit and crochet and made many beautiful homemade afghans for her family over the years.  She loved to travel with Frederick by train to Vancouver, BC to see their son, Gary, over the years.  For many years, Irene and Frederick enjoyed their cottage at Beulah Camp on the Saint John River.  She was very dedicated to her Lord and Saviour and was a very faithful member of the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church where for many years before her failing health, she sang in the choir, taught children's Sunday School classes, Secretary for the Wesleyan Missions and helping out with many Church functions.  She so enjoyed any Church suppers and luncheons.

She is survived by two sons, Gary, Vancouver, BC; Christopher (Iola), Napanee, ON; and one daughter, Claudia (Allison) Monroe, North Head, Grand Manan; two grandchildren, Michael (Becky) Ingersoll, Dunrobin, ON; Jennifer (Troy) Noseworthy, Cold Lake, AB; and two great grandchildren, Sonnet Noseworthy, AB, and Eli Ingersoll, ON, also step-grandchildren Stephanie (Wayne) Little, Saint John, NB and Krista (Kurt) Zwicker, Grand Manan,  and their families.  Irene is also survived by one Brother-in-law, Morris Ingersoll, Saint John, NB; one Sister-in-law, Barbara Brown, of Seal Cove, Grand Manan, also many loved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Frederick Ingersoll, her two sisters Louise Locke and Nellie Farnham, her two brothers, Robert and Leslie (Bud) French.

The family also wishes to express their great appreciation and gratitude to the Grand Manan Nursing Home for their wonderful care and love for our Mother during her years at the home.  We will always remember your special ways you had with our dear Mom.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday February 6, 2018 at the Immanuel Family Church, Grand Manan from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral Service will be held at Immanuel Family Church on Wednesday February 7, 2018 at 1:00PM with Rev. Ward McComiskey officiating.  Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery, Seal Cove in the spring.
