Keith Robert Mourik
1959-2017
Mourik: Keith Robert-It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Keith Robert Mourik, age 58 of White Head Island, on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Born on Grand Manan and raised on White Head Island, Keith was the son of Billy and Virginia (Morse) Mourik also of White Head Island.
Keith was predeceased by his loving mother Virginia in 1978. He is survived by his father John (Billy) (Thelma) Mourik, his sister Diana (late David 2007) Carroll, nephew Stephen (Marlene) Zwicker, niece Megan (Benn) Ossinger, his Aunts, Artje Ingalls, Johanna Morse, and Janet Jodrey, great nieces and nephew, Abbi, Libby, Noah, Hayely and Olivia, many cousins, and his close friends Wilbur and Linda Green, Gary and Rose Dutton, and David and Anita Miller.
Keith was well known for his tremendous sense of humour and his interest in people around him. He was always able to relate an incident and have everyone laughing at his escapades. He could light up a room wherever he went. Keith was devoted to his Dad and sister whom he worked beside as a young adult until his health no longer permitted. He worked with them in the lobster buying business Morse & Mourik as well as on his father’s herring carrier delivering fish around the Bay of Fundy.
His circle of friends was large and he enjoyed spending time with each and everyone one of them. He loved to golf with Wilbur and it was common to hear them counting down the days till it was time to hit the greens again. His trips to Jamaica with Wilbur and Linda were treasured times that he spoke fondly of. He had a motorcycle and he enjoyed travelling around and seeing new places, in early July he went to the Gaspe on an adventure with his bike.
