Burton Horace Green

1926-2017

GREEN; BURTON HORACE (1926-2017)

It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Burton H. Green, from Seal Cove, Grand Manan, NB, who passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Sunday July 9th, 2017. Born in Seal Cove, Burton was the son of the late Chester and Viola (Schofeild) Green. He grew up on Wood Island and later made his home in Seal Cove.

Everyone knew him as Uncle Burt, he even displayed it on a licence plate, on the back of his wheel chair. Burt was a well know, caring man who was loved by all. He was a fisherman, mechanic and worked on The Black Boat (Grand Manan IV) for many years, until his retirement.

Burt could be seen around Seal Cove in his electric chair, enjoying a visit with family, friends, and for the last seven years around the Grand Manan Nursing Home enjoying all the activities. He was a member of the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church until it closed last January.

Burt is survived by one brother Meredith Green of Ontario, one brother-in-law Preston Wilcox, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, two sisters Perla Wilcox and Wilba Ross, and one sister-in-law Janet Green.

Visiting will take place at the Seal Cove Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 7 – 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be from the Church on Thursday July 13, 2017 at 1:30pm. Interment will follow in Spruce Grove Cemetery.

Burt’s family have requested donation be made to The Grand Manan Nursing Home Foundation or to the donor’s choice.
