Ophelia Louise Taylor

Mrs. Ophelia Louise Taylor of North Head Grand Manan Island passed away peacefully at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Friday August 12, 2016.  She was born in Seal Cove the daughter of the late Harry and Gertrude (Foote) Grey.   Ophie as she was known by many was a loving wife to her husband Wesley and loving mother to her children and later grand children.  Her soft way and warm smile was her trademark to everyone she came in contact with.  Staying home to raise their family while Wesley was fishing earning a living on the water.  She loved her family dearly and took pride in both her children and all of her grand children where she celebrated the strengths of each of them.  Often Ophie could be seen out for a drive, or watching a local ball game with her daughter Carol, and the past few years at the Grand Manan Community Arena watching her grandchildren play hockey with great enthusiasm. She was a faithful Christian and served the Lord at the North Head Baptist Church where she was a life member of the Baptist Missionary Society and also was a Sunday School Teacher.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  She is survived by her daughter Carol Watkins (Calvin) of North Head.  Her grandchildren Troy Watkins, Tracy Watkins, and Todd Watkins, Terry Parker (Randy), Annette Newman (Allan), Wally Taylor (Cheryl), and Pauline Zwicker (Jeff).  Her great grandchildren; Adam Parker (Cassie), Noah Parker (Dana), Skylar Parker, Japeth Parker, Keyauna Parker,  Liam Watkins, Tiffany Zwicker, Jay Zwicker, and Allie Newman.  One great-great grandchild Lucy Grey Parker.  Several step grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and one extra special niece Lorretta Grey.  She was predeceased by her husband Wesley in 1991, her son Lawrence in 2008.  Two sisters; Jenny and Loma Frances, and three brothers; Hartford, James, and Frank.

Visiting will take at the North Head Baptist Church on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  The funeral service will be held at the church on Monday August 15, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Rev.
