Mr. Weldon Johnson
Ingalls of Seal Cove Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan
Nursing Home on Saturday April 16, 2016. Born at Seal Cove
he was the son of the late Rue and Margaret (Benson)
Ingalls. He served in the Royal Canadian Army 86th Bridge
Company during the Second World War. Following the war
Weldon married the love of his life Jean Stanley. In his
early working life he lobster fished, built weirs and fished
them. He worked with his father in the woods hauling logs,
and also helped keep Gannett Rock and Machias Seal Island Light
Stations supplied with provisions. Later he began a career
working for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans until his
retirement. Living a faithful and devoted life to
his Savior he attended the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church where he was a
former Sunday School Superintendent, and also a former Vice-chairman
of the Board of Directors for the Church. He will be
remembered for his love of bird watching, a walk to enjoy nature,
being a jokester, and most of all as a loving husband and
father. His loving wife Jean Audrey (Stanley)
Ingalls passed away just hours following Weldon's passing.
He is survived by one daughter Margaret (Truman) Dakin, Seal
Cove, one son John (Maxine) Ingalls, Winnipeg, MB. One
sister Belva (Beverly) Brown, Seal Cove, also he is survived by five
grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Visiting for both Weldon and his wife Jean will take place at the Seal
Cove Wesleyan Church on Friday from 2-4, and 7-9 pm. Their
funeral service will take place at the Church on Saturday April 23,
2016 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Ward McComiskey officiating. The interment
will follow at the Spruce Grove Cemetery. Donations may be
made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral
