Vernon Ralph Bedford

Mr. Vernon Ralph Bedford of Castalia Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital on Tuesday October 27, 2015.  He was born the son of the late Willard and Dorothy (Nutter) Bedford at St. Stephen.  Vern worked at various jobs from trucking lobster to later becoming a deck hand for Coastal Transport on the Grand Manan Ferry for many years.  He was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed many hours with his close friends in the woods hunting white tail deer, moose hunting, and trout fishing.  His dog was more than a pet he was his  little pal Kobe that was by his side most of the time.  He will be remembered most for his quiet personality and his warm smile, as he was a devoted loving father, grandfather and husband for his family.  He is survived by his wife Lorelie (Zwicker), his two sons; Jeremy Bedford, and Billy Joe (Nicole) Bedford both of Grand Manan.  One brother Ronnie (Donna) Bedford of St. Stephen. Three grandchildren; Kylie, Anthony, and Ranger. Many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was predeceased by one sister Betty.

Visiting will take place at Ells Funeral Home on Friday from 7-9 pm.  The funeral service will take place at the Seal Cove Baptist Church on Saturday at 1:00 pm with Rev. Peter Smith officiating.  The interment will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery.  Donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home Inc., 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 1G2.
