Kathleen Ferne
Tate, in her 96th year, passed away Wednesday evening, October 21,
2015 at The Moncton Hospital following a sudden decline in health. Kay
was born and lived on White Head Island until she was 90, then spent
the remaining years in Moncton at McNair Manor and finally at Autumn
Lee.
Friends remember Kay as an avid
hunter, engine mechanic, school custodian, home-maker, lover of nice
clothes, clean cars, clean house and clean fun. She and her husband of
57 years, Kenton, made life a continuous adventure from commercial
fishing, lighthouse keeping and farming. In another time, she would
have been a professor of engineering.
Her family, son
Dennison Tate (Ann) of Berry Mills, granddaughters Sarah Eastwood
(Peter) of Halifax and Melissa Cossaboom (Nathan) of Berry Mills,
great grandchildren Ethan, Ezra and Ellie Eastwood of Halifax and
Silas Cossaboom of Berry Mills and sister, Myrtle Smith (Carl,
deceased) of Machias, Maine already miss her and will remember her for
her kindness, integrity and generosity.
Kay
was predeceased by her husband, Kenton, sister Bessie Ingalls
(Hartford, deceased) and Herbert Trecartin (Madge, deceased).
A Service to celebrate Kathleen’s life will
be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton
(858-1995) on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 6:30 pm with Reverend Gerry
Cossaboom officiating. The family will greet friends in the Funeral
Home Reception Centre following the service. Committal Service and
interment will be held on White Head Island, Grand Manan under the
direction of Ells Funeral Home, Grand Manan, with date and time to be
announced.
