Alice Marie Cook

Mrs. Alice M. Cook formerly of Shediac Cape passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Monday August 10, 2015. She was born at North Head, Grand Manan Island the daughter of the late Ernest and Jennie (Beal) Bass. Alice married Percy at the young  age of 17 and  they  started their family of eight children in 1943.  They  moved to Shediac Cape in 1961 where Percy had found a job and they raised their family together.  Later in their retirement years they spent the warmer months of the year in the Miramichi area, where many good memories were made with their family. Alice was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.  She enjoyed cooking, and family time.  She is survived by her children; Lorraine MacNeill of Grand Harbour, George (Linda) of Grand Harbour, Rodney (Sylvia) of Saint John, Craig of Calgary, AB, John of Shediac Cape, Dwight (Joanne) of Grand Barachois, and Russell (Kathy) of Porters Lake, NS. One daughter-in-law Dixie Cook of Calgary, AB, also one brother Lester Bass of North Head.  Nineteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her husband Percy (2003), one son Douglas (1982), son-in-law John MacNeill (2002).  Four sisters; Margaret Locke, Frances Fleet, Alma Naves, and Hazel Titus. Also five brothers; Harold, Charles, George, William, And Sheldon.

Visiting will take place at Ells Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7-9 pm.  The funeral service will take place from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Harbour on Thursday August 13, 2015 at 1:30 pm. The interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery.  A reception will follow at St. Paul's Anglican Church Hall. The family has requested donations be made to the Grand Manan Nursing Home Foundation, Grand Manan Hospital Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.  Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home Inc., 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 1G2.
